Obituary: Mary Northcott, 87, of Stratford

Mary Northcott, 87, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2020. Born on August 27, 1932 in New York, NY she was the daughter of the late Robert and Agnes (Kearney) Powers.

Mary was a retired Connecticut State Employee having enjoyed working with students at Housatonic Community College, Office of the Registrar. While employed at HCC, she completed her Associate Degree and was a union representative for AFSCME. Mary was also active in the town of Stratford with environmental issues and served on the town committees. She enjoyed the shore and beauty of Long Island Sound.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Eileen McIndoe (Dana), and Joan Vetter (Michael); her grandchildren, Robert Vetter, Ryan Vetter, and Thomas Vetter; her sisters, Edna Vaugh (William), and Ellen Pasacreta (Sam); and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Sharon Brown, longtime friend and neighbor. Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen and Frances.

All services will be private at this time. A celebration of her life will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Connecticut Audubon Society at www.ctaudubon.org/donate/.
