Officials Unveil Plans for Proposed Development of Lake Success Eco-Business Park
The project, which is on the former Remington Park property that straddles Bridgeport and Stratford, could create 3,400 jobs.

Stratford Mayor John Harkins and Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch unveiled plans Monday for the proposed Lake Success Eco Business Park for the 422-acre former Remington Park property that straddles the Bridgeport and Stratford town line.
Plans include a low-density development of two 133,000 square-foot office buildings in Stratford with a parking garage, six 113,000 square-foot office buildings in Bridgeport, six 50,000 square-foot commercial flex buildings, and two 30,000 square-foot commercial flex buildings, and a 100,000 square-foot hotel-conference facility in Bridgeport.
The mayors recently met with representatives of Sporting Goods Properties, a subsidiary of DuPont, recently to discuss the on-going progress of environmental remediation at the former Remington Park property located in the north end of Bridgeport and Stratford.

Much of the property, which was formerly used as a munitions testing site, has been remediated of unexploded ordnance with the exception of Lake Success which comprises about 25 acres. Sporting Goods Properties is seeking a remediation solution for Lake Success and is preparing development plans for the balance of the site.
The proposed development is being touted as the Lake Success Eco-Business Park. Potential end users would be corporate office, R&D, skilled trade, assembly and hotel/conference facility.

Officials say the potential employment opportunities are forecasted to be up to 3,400 employees based upon the full build-out of the proposed development.
“This is another example of how we can take an existing Brownfield property and put it back into productive use,” Harkins said in a statement. “The fact that the Stratford portion of this property has been remediated and is ready to go forward with development provides great economic development opportunities for our community.
“We will not only see a low-density development that leaves significant open space, but also a benefit from jobs coming into our community.”
Finch said that in Bridgeport “we’re investing in the future by creating hundreds of green jobs and producing clean energy that ensures our kids breathe cleaner air.”
“With this project, we’re taking currently unused land, cleaning it up, and turning it into a job creator and revenue generator,” Finch said. “It’s a win-win for Bridgeport, and serves as another example of how our city is getting better every day.”
Thomas E. Stilley, project director for DuPont Corporate Remediation Group, said Dupont “DuPont continues to make significant progress towards remediating and restoring the Lake Success Eco Business Park site with the ultimate goal of positioning the property as an asset to the local community and region.”
