Stratford EMS Crew Honored For Response During 'Life-Threatening Dog Attack' Involving Elderly Victim (patch.com) — Stratford residents are learning more about the bravery of local EMS workers after Mayor David Chess honored Paramedic Jeffrey Jorgenson and EMT Josh Whittenburger for rescuing an elderly woman during a life-threatening dog attack amid a severe storm. The crew not only pulled her through floodwaters and away from the aggressive dog, but also checked on her vulnerable husband, secured the home, and stayed until family arrived, earning additional trauma care recognition from Yale Bridgeport Hospital leaders.
   

2. Have A Traffic Complaint In Stratford? Let Police Know (patch.com) — Stratford residents can now send non-emergency traffic complaints directly to police through a new online form that uses Urban SDK's data tools to analyze problem spots around town. Submissions will help the Traffic Division spot recurring issues and improve safety, while emergencies should still be reported by calling 911.
   

3. Stratford Restaurant Week 2026: What To Know (patch.com) — Stratford's Restaurant Week is coming up September 20–26, with nearly two dozen local eateries offering special deals and a Golden Fork Award drawing for diners who submit their receipts. One lucky participant will win a bundle of Stratford restaurant gift cards, so now's the time to plan reservations and support neighborhood spots around town.
   

4. JoAnn D. Farnen (newhavenindependent.org) — Family and friends in Stratford and nearby towns are mourning the passing of 83-year-old JoAnn Farnen, a longtime secretary with the Stratford Visiting Nurse Association known for her devotion to family, faith, and Sunday dinners. Calling hours will be held September 21 at Adzima Funeral Home in Stratford, followed by a Mass in Shelton and suggested memorial donations.
   

5. Two Connecticut business owners plead guilty to millions in COVID program fraud (ctpost.com) — A Stratford man has pleaded guilty in federal court to defrauding COVID-era Paycheck Protection Program loans, part of a broader crackdown that also ensnared a Shelton business owner. Prosecutors say the Stratford resident obtained more than $860,000 through inflated income and employee claims, and now faces sentencing in January as federal authorities step up enforcement against pandemic relief fraud in Connecticut.
