Plea Deal Entered In Stratford Sex Assault Case
Under the agreement, the defendant, accused of inappropriate contact with two young girls, could serve no jail time.
STRATFORD, CT — A plea for a Stratford sexual assault case involving two young girls was entered Wednesday in Bridgeport. Under the agreement, the defendant could serve no jail time.
Jesus Antonio Gonzalez is accused of having inappropriate contact with the girls, one of whom was 5 years old at the time, prosecutor Colleen Zingaro said. Gonzalez was charged in 2018, according to court records, but the incidents are alleged to have occurred in 2015 in Stratford.
Gonzalez, who is in his 60s, had faced one count of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a child, court records said. Under the deal he pleaded guilty to one count of risk of injury and is expected to be sentenced to a five-year suspended prison term, five years probation and a standing criminal protective order. The victims and their parents have agreed to the deal.

Judge Joan Alexander warned Gonzalez, who appeared in court with the assistance of a Spanish language interpreter, that if he is arrested while out on bond awaiting sentencing, he could lose the plea agreement.
Gonzalez will next appear in court March 27 for sentencing, at which time court officials will discuss the conditions of his probation and whether he'll be required to register as a sex offender.
