9th Annual Down & Dirty 5K is Sept. 10
10-Obstacle Event at Short Beach benefits Sterling House
STRATFORD (July 15, 2022) - On Saturday, September 10, Sterling House Community Center (SHCC) will host its 9th Annual Down & Dirty 5K obstacle race, a fundraiser at Short Beach in Stratford. The first wave of participants will begin the course at 8:30 a.m., with times available throughout the morning.

SHCC’s Down & Dirty 5K obstacle race is a non-competitive, all-skill level, "just-for-fun" mud- and fun-infused run. The flat, beachfront course is perfect for the beginner and moderate skill-level athlete, as well challenging for those who are more competitive.

Returning obstacles include the Whiting Turner Mud Pit, Police Jailbreak, Two Roads Keg Carry, Wall of the World, and many more!

Special Events Manager Emily Shufrin added, “We’re going to see a return of many fan-favorite obstacles and the 5K Committee is working on a few more for 2022! Come ready to have fun!”
“New this year, we will be joined by Two Roads’ event truck. We welcome participants 21+ to enjoy one complimentary drink upon completion of the race and we appreciate the ongoing partnership,” Shufrin said. Refreshments for kids, too.
Proceeds from the race benefits Sterling House’s programs and services including Food Pantry, Preschool, After School, Summer Day Camp, youth/adult athletics, its Resource Connections referral program and more. Celebrating its 90th Anniversary, the organization was founded in 1932 with its five-acre campus located at 2283 Main Street, Stratford.
