Stratford Man Charged With Friend’s Shooting Death: Report

A Stratford man is accused of accidentally shooting his friend in the head during a reported drive-by shooting attempt.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Stratford man has been charged with manslaughter in connection to the shooting death of his friend, Kyree Kennedy of Bridgeport, last month, according to the Connecticut Post. Kennedy was 22.

Terrell Evans, 22, is accused of accidentally shooting Kennedy in the head while the two were in the midst of doing a drive-by shooting on May 2, according to the Post. (To sign up for Stratford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Daniel Tepfer of the Post reports that a fight broke out between the two families during Evans’ arraignment Friday morning in Bridgeport. More than a dozen people were reportedly trying to get at each other during the melee.

Judicial marshals formed a human wall to separate the groups and no serious injuries were reported, according to Tepfer.

Evans was charged with first-degree manslaughter, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and criminal possession of a pistol. He remains in custody on a $250,000 bond and his next court date is scheduled for June 27, according to state judicial records.
