Stratford Man — Who Is Also Norwalk Cop — Gets Probation
If he doesn't commit any crimes in the next year and attends 10 alcohol education sessions, the charges against him will be dropped.
NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk cop accused of resisting arrest after a drunk driving incident in Fairfield has been granted two probation programs, according to The Norwalk Hour.
Hector Delgado, of Stratford, received accelerated rehabilitation and an alcohol education program Friday, The Hour reported. If Delgado doesn't commit any crimes in the next year, the charge against him of interfering with police will be dropped, according to The Hour, which reported he will also have a year to complete 10 alcohol education sessions, after which time his drunk driving charge will be dismissed. The judge also dropped a charged that Delgado was illegally carrying a gun.
On Aug. 8, Delgado sideswiped a truck on Interstate 95 and fled the scene, according to The Hour. A video taken the night of the incident shows Delgado — who was later found to have a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit — pleading with police not to arrest him before he was taken to the ground, The Hour reported. A 26-year veteran of the Norwalk Police Department, Delgado was suspended for five days in connection with the incident, Patch reported in October.
