Stratford Renews Tax Deferment For Taxpayers Impacted By Pandemic
The deferment is available by application only. Read details here.

STRATFORD, CT — (From Town Hall): Stratford will once again be providing tax relief to residents impacted by the coronavirus pandemic through participation in a program administered through Gov. Ned Lamont’s executive order.
The program allows for a 90-day deferment of any taxes on real property, personal property, motor vehicles, and municipal sewer charges from the day they are due. At the urging of Mayor Laura R. Hoydick, the Stratford Town Council authorized participation in the program last April by a unanimous vote. Hoydick indicated that no new vote of the Council is needed to authorize this second round of deferments.
“Participation in this deferment offers our residents important and significant relief if they have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Hoydick said in a statement. “The impact of this crisis has been tremendous and has been sustained since the spring. Many who were under strain back in the spring are doubly so now as we enter our tenth month in coping with this pandemic. We need to continue doing what we can to help those who face financial difficulties and uncertainty, and I hope residents who need it will take advantage of this assistance.”

As with the previous deferment in the spring, those eligible for the deferment will need to document and attest to significant economic impact due to the impact of COVID, and the Town will follow the guidance of OPM as to the criteria for eligibility. The deadline for applying is February 1, 2021.
The deferment is available by application only. The application form for relief can be found on the Town of Stratford website here.
