Stratford Rotary Club Distributes $15K For Coronavirus Response

The Stratford club is giving face shields to area businesses and donating thousands to food pantries.

Stratford Rotary Club providing needed community assistance during this Covid-19 pandemic.

Stratford 5-28-2020 – As the community of Stratford deals with this Covid-19 pandemic the Stratford Rotary Club is providing much needed assistance and support to local community organizations and agencies. The Club has allocated over $15,000 toward the local response.

“In a time of crisis, the Stratford Rotary Club is responding to needs with support for our local food programs and providing resources to acquire PPE’s for members of our community.” These are some of the programs that are being supported:

  • The Club has face shields for free to distribute to local restaurants, hair salons and other businesses. Any town business who would like a face mask should contact Stephanie Philips at 203-377-2119 to order. There is a limited supply. This is in conjunction with Access Independence.
  • The Stratford Rotary Club has donated over $3,500 to local food pantries. The club received a $525.00 grant from the Rotary District 7980 along with additional fundraising will continue to support the food program in the community. Some of the local food bank organizations that have received support include: Sterling House Community Center, South End Community Center, 1st Baptist Church, Stratford Baptist, and the 1st Haitian Evangelical Church.
  • In addition, the club has sponsored and supported the Lord’s Kitchen supper program by providing meals on 3 different occasions and distributing face masks. The club has allocated an additional $1,800 to support this food program.
  • The club provided lunch for the town’s EMT workers and first responders.
  • A Rotary District 7980 grant of $2,400 was secured along with a club match of $1,000 to enable Access Independence to increase their capacity to produce PPE face shields for front line workers dealing with this pandemic and local businesses to assist in re-opening.
  • Through a generous donation from a District 7980 Rotarian the club was able to secure 3,000 face masks to be distributed to Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation facility, Stratford EMS and the Stratford VNA.
  • The Club donated $1,500 to the Stratford YMCA for books and supply kits for their early learning and school aged childcare students during Covid-19.

Stratford Rotarians are asking the public to join our efforts to donate any amount. 100% is devoted to COVID-19 responds efforts.
