STRATFORD, CT — The Sterling House Community Center is selling T-shirts for its Resilient Stratford Project fundraiser, meaning Stratford residents can show their hometown pride while supporting Sterling House in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Coming together as a community and showing comfort, strength and support for others is what the Town of Stratford is all about,” Director of Athletics and Recreation Catherine Proto said in an email. “In the light of everything that is happening in our country, this is the time for both pride and unity in our town. Even though we are apart during this time, we can stand together and remain a resilient Stratford.”

The community center solicited votes for three T-shirt designs for the effort, called the Resilient Stratford Project. The winning option, titled Community Tree, shows Stratford as a tree rooted in the characteristics of resilience, support, strength, gratitude, selflessness, community and love. The design, by Stratford artist Emily Barksdale, won with 78 percent of the vote. Shirts are now available for pre-purchase for $15. All proceeds will go to the Sterling House Food Pantry.
