Street Safety, Shakespeare Park Topics At Community Conversations #1

Distracted driving, traffic calming, block parties, food trucks, Shakespeare Park, bullying on social media, cell phones in schools, and local economic development were the main topics raised and discussed by attendees at the first Stratford Community Conversations on April 26 at Stratford Library.

A cross section of community members ranging in age from 20-something to 70-something gathered for the launch of the new series of public community conversations organized and moderated by resident Greg Reilly. Among the attendees were four Stratford elected officials, top brass from Stratford Fire Department, an Stratford Police officer, a couple of recent candidates for state office, and ordinary interested residents.

Stratford Community Conversations #2 is set for Wednesday, May 17, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. sharp at Stratford United Methodist Church hall on Main Street near Town Hall. Residents, businesspeople, Town officials and community organizers are encouraged to attend the free event. Drive up Temple Court, to the right of the church, and find parking in the back.

Community Conversations #3 will be Wednesday, June 7, at Our Lady of Peace Church in Lordship.

What and Why: Bringing community members together as a group to speak, listen and gain a better understanding of others’ views about life in Stratford.
