Teacher 'Has The Biggest Heart': Stratford Local Hero

STRATFORD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Krystal Thivierge, who nominated her friend, Elba Sims, of Stratford.

Hero's job: New arrivals teacher

Reason for recognition: Mrs. Sims always goes above and beyond for her students and families. She is the most caring person, and she has the biggest heart. She truly cares about the well-being of not only her students and families but everyone around her.

One thing to know: Elba will always know how to make someone feel special without even trying.
