Assumption College, Worcester MA
- Assumption College honored 76 students with awards for academic excellence during the 33rd Annual Honors Convocation, held on April 19 in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Awards ranged from departmental honors to special recognitions, to Augustine Scholarships, the College's highest academic honor. Monique LaBarre of West Suffield, a member of the Class of 2019, received the departmental award for American studies. Mariah Peck of Suffield, a member of the Class of 2018, received the David L. Christianson Award for the Study of Foreign Languages.
- The Assumption College Department of Psychology has announced that Mariah Peck, of Suffield, has become a member of the Psychology National Honor Society, Psi Chi. Peck, Class of 2018, was inducted into the honor society earlier this academic year. Psi Chi was founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduates, of junior or senior academic standing, who have chosen psychology as their major or minor. Inductees must also have completed nine semester hours of psychology courses, rank in the top 35 percent of their class, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.25, in both psychology classes and in overall cumulative grades. Psi Chi members are invited to submit scholarly articles to the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research, apply for research grants, and attend and present at regional and national conferences.

- The Third Annual CREATE Conference at Eastern Connecticut State University took place on April 21. CREATE stands for "Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern," and is the University's premier conference showcasing student research and creative activity. Amy Javarauckas of Suffield presented artwork titled "The Scream Project." Javarauckas majors in Visual Arts. The one-day conference featured more than 300 Eastern undergraduates who presented talks, professional posters, live music, dance performances, art and photography exhibits, documentary films and panel discussions.
Western New England University, Springfield MA
- Michael Urbanski of Suffield was welcomed into Mortar Board National Honor Society on April 10, 2017 at the Western New England University chapter's annual induction ceremony. Urbanski is majoring in Mathematical Sciences. Mortar Board is the senior honor society at Western New England University. The society is open to those students who have demonstrated both academic excellence and leadership on campus and in the community. Students in the top 35% of the junior class are considered eligible for the society with the membership being selected by the existing members of the previous year. The Mortar Board Society hopes to recognize student achievement, while also serving as a focal point of planning and collaboration for senior leaders.
