Navy Officially Confirms Suffield Sailor Missing from USS John S. McCain
He is one of 10 crew members missing from the warship that collided with a merchant ship near Singapore.

SUFFIELD, CT — The Navy has officially confirmed that a sailor from Suffield is among 10 missing in the aftermath of the collision of the USS John S. McCain and a merchant ship off the coast of Singapore.
Dustin Doyon, a 26-year-old electronics technician third-class petty officer, was among those named Thursday in Navy statements. Doyon has served in the Navy since April 2015, the official statement said.
U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney tweeted his "thoughts and prayers are with the Doyon family."

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy released a statement on Thursday that said, “Dustin is a patriot and a hero. My prayers are with the Doyon family. My office is here to help them however we can.”
The Navy said remains had been found in "sealed compartments" by divers. The Malaysian Navy may also have located remains, according to statements.

Suffield First Selectman Melissa Mack issued the following statement to the media Tuesday night, on behalf of the Doyon family:
"On behalf of the entire Doyon family, we want to thank all those who have expressed concern and offered prayers and support as we await word from the U.S. Navy on our son and brother Dustin, who is assigned to the USS John S. McCain (DDG 56).
"We appreciate the courageous work of the crew in the aftermath of the collision and the continuing rescue efforts.
"As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family and we respectfully request that you honor our privacy."
