Eastern Psychology Student Awarded Departmental Honors
On April 25, 14 talented psychology students at Eastern Connecticut State University were awarded "departmental honors." Among the awardees was Stephanie Madden '16 of Suffield. Madden majors in Psychology And Theatre.

Eastern students who are awarded departmental honors in psychology must earn an A- or better in Behavioral Science Statistics and Research Methods I, attain a 3.5 GPA in psychology and an overall GPA of 3.5. Students must also complete an independent study, teaching assistantship or research assistantship in psychology, and present research at CSU Psychology Day.

The Assumption College Department of Modern & Classical Languages & Cultures has announced that Mariah Peck, of Suffield, has been named to the French National Honor Society, Pi Delta Phi. Peck, a member of the class of 2018, was inducted into the honor society on Wednesday, April 6.
"We are excited to welcome the new members to Assumption's chapter of Pi Delta Phi," said Anthony S. Zielonka, Ph.D., associate professor of French and the honor society's advisor. "We are very pleased to recognize this group of students for their hard work, discipline, and love for this field of study."
Pi Delta Phi has more than 300 chapters at universities and colleges all across the United States. To be eligible for membership, students must be in their sophomore year or above, and have gained a B average in intermediate or advanced French courses. At the initiation ceremony, inductees promise to further and develop their knowledge of and interest in the French language, culture and literature.
Merrimack College Commencement
Merrimack College will celebrate the achievements of more than 750 students who will receive their bachelor's degree at the college's 66th Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Merrimack Athletics Complex on the North Andover campus.
The Honorable Charles "Charlie" D. Baker Jr., governor of Massachusetts, will present the Commencement speech.
Natalie Glynn of Suffield will receive a BA in Human Development.
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
Erin Kost of Suffield was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Kost was initiated at Elon University.
Kost is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society. The Society has chapters on more than 300 college and university campuses in North America and the Philippines. Its mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."
Emerson College Dean's List
Timothy Vindigni of Suffield was named to Emerson College's Dean's List for the spring 2016 semester. Vindigni is majoring in Media Arts Production. The requirement to make Emerson's Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
