Suffield Girls Win, Headed to Class L Soccer Finals
Enfield girls and Somers boys will also be making state championship game appearances Saturday.
The “Route 190 corridor” has a lot to celebrate, as three North Central Connecticut Conference soccer teams located less than 13 miles apart will be competing for state championships this weekend.
Super Saturday on the soccer pitch will feature the girls’ teams from Suffield and Enfield, as well as the boys from Somers.
In Class L, the top two seeds will duke it out, as No. 2 Suffield takes on No. 1 St. Joseph. Each team sports a perfect 19-0 record.

Suffield earned its spot in the finals by defeating No. 6 Berlin by a 3-1 count at Windsor High School.
Enfield, the number 12 seed in Class M, earned its first trip to the championship game by upsetting top-seeded and previously unbeaten Woodland 3-2 in a game that went through two overtimes and was decided on penalty kicks. The Raiders prevailed 3-1 in the penalty kick round at Middletown High School to advance.

Enfield (14-2-4) will meet No. 3 Northwest Catholic (18-1-1) for the title.
On the boys’ side, No. 8 Somers has a chance to repeat as Class S champion, as the Spartans shut out No. 13 Litchfield, 3-0 at Falcon Field in Meriden.
Last year, Somers (14-5-1) was co-champion with East Hampton, but will have a chance to claim this year’s title for their own against an NCCC rival, second-seeded Coventry (17-2-0).
Times and locations for the championship tilts will be announced shortly.
