Severe Thunderstorm Watch Now Issued for Suffield

We'll let you know when the thunderstorms are expected to arrive and what to expect for the rest of the week.

The National Weather Service has just issued a “Severe Thunderstorm Watch” from now until 8 p.m. for Connecticut including Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, New London, Hartford, and Tolland counties.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote on Twitter that the main threat is from 3 to 8 p.m.

Temperatures are soaring into the 90s this afternoon. During the thunderstorms, gusty winds, lightning, thunder and heavy rain is possible.

Power outages are also possible.

The upcoming forecast for Connecticut:

Monday: Storms and showers are possible anytime from 2 p.m. until midnight. Temps are in the low to mid 90s.

Tonight: Storms end after midnight, strong winds and heavy rain are possible.”

Tuesday: Sunshine, not as hot, with temps in the mid 80s.

Wednesday: Even cooler temps with highs just around 80 to 83 degrees.

Thursday: Sunshine with temps in the mid 80s.

Friday: Chance of some storms and temps back into the 90s.

The weekend:

Saturday: Very hot, low 90s on the coast and upper 90s inland.
