'Suffield Night' Coming Up At Hartford Yard Goats

The town will be celebrated at an upcoming game.

SUFFIELD, CT — Saturday, July 13, 2019 the Hartford Yard Goats will be bathed in blue as over 250 fans celebrate “Suffield Night” and showcase their school colors and town pride. The inaugural event includes pregame ceremonies honoring Suffield Parks & Recreation 2019 award recipients and the singing of “God Bless America” by Suffield High School student Eva Nick. The Yard Goats face-off at 6:05 p.m. against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats with fireworks scheduled postgame. “What a wonderful night to come together as a community and celebrate Suffield,” stated Suffield First Selectman Melissa M. Mack, “I’m also delighted that we have this special opportunity to acknowledge Suffield’s volunteers who truly make our town such a great place to call home.”

Four volunteers are slated to be recognized for their exemplary dedication to parks and recreation. For over 30 years of service on the commission, Louis Casinghino will be given a newly-created Service Award which will bear his name in future years. Kevin Landolina will receive the Public Service Award for the community spirit he exemplifies as a volunteer at the annual Bowling Buddies Outing Group Christmas Party. For her commitment to coaching youth soccer, 2019 Suffield High School graduate McKenzie Sullivan will be presented with the Youth Leadership Award. The Youth Sports Impact award will go to Ryan Walters for the values he demonstrates as both a youth soccer and basketball coach.

Suffield Parks & Recreation initiated and organized the evening’s activities under the leadership of Director Peter Leclerc. Leclerc noted, “There are so many dedicated volunteers and leaders that are involved with the department. They work hard throughout the year to better their community. These awards are a small way to let each recipient, and Suffield, know that their efforts do not go unnoticed, and I am very grateful for all they do to help make Suffield a better place.”
