Suffield Police Officers Save Woman From Potential Overdose

A pair of sergeants used their newly-acquired training to help save an unconscious female victim.

SUFFIELD, CT — A pair of Suffield police sergeants recently trained in administration of a narcotic overdose-reversing treatment successfully revived a young woman early Sunday morning.

In the early morning hours, the Suffield Police Department received a 9-1-1 emergency call from a person in Arizona who stated he had been on an internet chat with an 18-year-old Suffield woman when she experienced what he believed to be an overdose, police said.

Dispatcher Nicholas Fasano used the woman's cell phone number to ascertain where she was located, and Sgts. Justin Nelson and John Trovato responded to her address, where they found her unresponsive and not breathing, police said.

Nelson quickly administered Narcan, a treatment with the ability to reverse the effects of narcotic overdoses and potentially save lives from drug overdoses. The Narcan took effect and brought the woman back to a level of consciousness and alertness, police said.

The woman was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
