Suffield School Briefly Evacuated Due to Gas Smell
The situation was deemed under control in about 20 minutes, police said.

SUFFIELD, CT — A brief evacuation of McAlister Intermediate School took place Friday morning after a smell of gas was detected, according to Suffield police.
At 10:43 a.m., police received a report of the smell of gas at the Mountain Road school. First responders arrived on the scene in less than two minutes, and students and staff were evacuated from the school in a safe and orderly manner, police said.
Fire department personnel inspected the school and conducted tests of air quality and other mechanisms. The building was deemed safe, and students and staff returned to the normal course of school business at 11:04 a.m., police said.
