Author Beatriz Williams delights a sold-out audience

Book Lovers enjoy informative presentation by Celebrity Author

A capacity crowd filled the East Lyme Community Center on Saturday, November 2, 2019, to listen to Celebrity Author, Beatriz Williams, at the first event held under the auspices of the Thames West Auxiliary of Child and Family Agency, after the merger of the Auxiliaries of East Lyme, Old Lyme, Waterford, and New London. Dr. Allison Blake, CEO of Child and Family Agency, after welcoming the large crowd of book lovers, also mentioned the many services the agency provides to children and families in the Community.

Sally Myers, President of the Thames West Auxiliary, then thanked the Chairpersons who had made the event such as success: Chairs- Diane McCue, Karen Zoller, and Mary Mirabito; Publicity- June Hoye; Graphics- Sally Myers; Baskets- Barbara Mingo and Ruth Hammell.

Elissa Sweet of Bank Square Books-co-sponsors of the event-after introducing Author Williams, also facilitated the discussion with questions about Ms. Williams’ writing process. Ms. Williams delighted the audience with her remarks about how she processes her ideas, her writing methods, and how her background in Anthropology contributes to her cultural insights. Her sense of humor, relaxed presentation, and obvious love of writing contributed to a very informative and entertaining presentation.

The attendees also enjoyed a luncheon catered by Pasta Vita with Desserts contributed by members of the Thames West Auxiliary. The Auxiliary would also like to thank the Corporate Sponsors: Staggs Rolfing, The Book Barn, Norwich Ophthalmology Group, Bank Square Books, Burnett’s Landscaping, and Bob’s Discount Furniture.

All profits from the event will be donated to the Child and Family Agency which provides a continuum of care beginning with early childhood development centers, to outpatient and home-based behavioral health services, as well as school-based health centers and after-school programming.
