CT Teen Causes School Disturbance, Gets Banned: Police
The student allegedly had displayed "concerning behavior" in recent months.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — A 17-old Old Saybrook student has been barred from all of the town's schools after police said the teen allegedly displayed "concerning behavior" in recent months. Due to his age and certain privacy regulations, the department said in a Facebook post that while certain information about the juvenile would not be released, they would share some details.
"Last Friday and over the weekend, students and parents communicated concerns to the Police Department about the comments and actions of a high school student over the past weeks and months," wrote police officials.
"The comprehensive investigation has resulted in the arrest of a seventeen (17) Year Old for Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree; a violation of Connecticut General Statutes 53-181a.

"Additional police resources may be present at school campuses throughout the week, for no other reason than to allow our students and staff to know we are there to keep them safe."
The Old Saybrook situation comes less than a week after the tragic mass shooting in Parkland, FL, as school districts around the nation deal with safety concerns.
On Tuesday, Norwalk High School was placed on "shelter alert" following a report of a student possibly having a weapon at the Fairfield County school. After a search, students and faculty were deemed safe, but students were dismissed early.
