East Lyme Resident Charged with Filing False Tax Returns
The case has been investigated by the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division.

EAST LYME, CT - A New Haven grand jury recently returned an indictment charging an East Lyme man with filing false tax returns.
According to the indictment and statements made in court, Regan Tippett, 41, is a partner in the bails bonds company Statewide Bail Bonds, according to a release. The suspect is charged with failing to report approximately $260,000 in taxable income that was derived from bail bond fees for the 2009 through 2012 tax years.
The indictment charges Tippett with four counts of filing a false tax return, which carries a maximum term of imprisonment three years on each count.

Tippett appeared Tuesday in New Haven and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
