The Town’s Highway Department is planning on fully re-opening the Town’s Transfer Station next Monday May 4th. Although we have been open for brush and leaves for weeks, we know our residents and taxpayers are looking for this service so we are trying to make it happen in a safe manner for all. Our employees will be wearing protective masks, but we need all customers to practice social distancing, use appropriate precautions and follow the directions that staff provide so we can remain open. We are going to keep to the same hours; Monday thru Friday 8am to 2:30pm (we will not be open on Saturdays for the foreseeable future). Customers will need to provide proof that they are an East Lyme resident to be able to use the facility.
By being fully open, residents and taxpayers will be able to bring all the items that you normally bring. We will be only accepting credit card transactions to minimize the spread of germs, so no cash will be accepted.
I also wanted to thank a few members of our wonderful community; Robin Soule, Zoe & Jodi Peterson, and Heather Parsons for graciously making masks for our employees free of charge. We really appreciate it.
If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 860-691-4118 or email us at publicworks@eltownhall.com.
