Pakistani Couple In Sanctuary At Old Lyme Church Gains Support
Malik Nayeed bin Rehman and Zahida Altaf have taken sanctuary in the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme to avoid deportation.

OLD LYME, CT — Malik Nayeed bin Rehman and Zahida Altaf, the Pakistani couple with a five-year-old child who face deportation, met with United States Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and dozens of members of the community over the weekend who support them, writes The Day.
The couple have taken sanctuary in the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, and the church and immigration groups are trying to help them avoid deportation.
They have lived in New Britain since 2000 when they came to the country on nonimmigrant visas, but stayed beyond the expiration date, according to the publication.
