Police Warn Residents Of The Lymes About Phone Scam
Someone recently tried to scam an East Lyme resident about a phony arrest, cops say.

EAST LYME, CT — The East Lyme police are warning area residents to be on the lookout for a new phone scam involving phony arrest warrants.
"We have been advised that a citizen received a call from someone from the state of Washington stating there were arrest warrants for the citizen but could be cleared if they paid an unspecified amount," wrote East Lyme police in a post on the department's Facebook page. "This is a scam which is similar to other phone scams that have been reported in the past."
The department cautions people to never "provide any payments or personal identifying information" to callers.

In February, the department also warned residents about a Netflix "phishing" scheme, and about a couple of accused thieves who studied social media posts for when people would be away from their homes.
