OLD LYME, CT – A vote is scheduled for Tuesday that will impact fishermen’s ability to remove dogfish fins, wsoctv.com reported.

Intestate fishing regulators will vote on an amendment that would allow fishermen to bring smooth dogfish to land with fins removed, according to wsoctv.com. Their total retained catch must, however, be at least 25 percent smooth dogfish.

Fishermen can currently bring ashore as many dogfish with fins removed as they please, according to wscotv.com. The Marine Fisheries Division of the CT Dept. of Energy and Environmental
