Charges Unlikely in Shooting Death of Connecticut Trooper

Funeral arrangements have been finalized for the veteran state trooper who lost his life in a hunting accident in Texas.

The Maine man who shot and killed a Connecticut State Police trooper during a hunting trip in southwestern Texas will likely not face charges, according to authorities in that state.

Maverick County Sheriff’s Office investigator Robert Sifuentes said the shooting death of TFC Stephen Davis, 50, was accidental, and 74-year-old Alvin Chase, Sr., who fired the fatal round, is unlikely to be charged, according to the Portland Press Herald.

“After I spoke with the medical examiner, we agreed it was accidental,” Sifuentes said. “They decided to go stalking. Mr. Davis flanked around trying to spook what he thought were hogs.”
