Highway Camera Upgrades Planned For I-84, I-384 Corridors
Plans are in the works for what DOT officials are calling an upgraded "advanced traffic management" system on I-84 and I-384.

TOLLAND/HARTFORD COUNTIES, CT — Plans are in the works for what Connecticut Department of Transportation officials are calling an upgraded "advanced traffic management" system along the Interstate 84 and I-384 corridors that include Tolland, Vernon, South Windsor and Manchester.
The announcement was made in a Dec. 26 memo to town officials.
According to the memo, the DOT's engineering division is developing plans tp upgrade the existing and "aging" ATMS camera and fiber optics infrastructure and extend camera coverage along the highways "to improve public safety, and the department's ability to gather motorist information, monitor construction and maintenance work and perform highway information activities."

According to the memo, the goal is to have the design phase of the project done by December 2024 and start construction in the summer of 2025.
The project cost was not disclosed, but will consist of 90 percent federal funds and 10 percent state funds, according to the memo.
