Outgoing Vice Chair Report: November 9th Meeting Preview

Good Morning, and a happy first Friday of November neighbors! From the outgoing Vice Chair, providing a preview of our November 9 Organizational and Regular Meeting.

On Tuesday, November 9th, the Town Council will convene for several procedural items prior to engaging in regular business. These procedural items include administration of the oath of office, election of the chair and vice chair positions, agreement on the meeting schedule and adopting our rules of procedure.

Following these organizational matters, the Town Council will proceed with regular business by hold their first public hearing of the new term regarding amendments to the Parks and Recreation Areas portion of our town code related to cannabis and cannabis-related products as banned from these town spaces, as well as incorporating tobacco use into the ordinance. This public hearing will be followed by several new business items for discussion and potential action.

The first of these new business items include appointment of our town attorney for another two-year period. The council will then consider approving the description for the Project/Grants Manager position that was incorporated into the 2021 budget. The third new business item is establishing a date for a town vision statement, goal-setting and activities workshop for the council to be held at a later date. Our fourth item is consideration to approve a fully remote town council meeting on November 23rd due to it occurring the week of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Finally, for new business is the appointment and reappointment of residents to the Agriculture Commission, Library Advisory Board and Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission.
