Tolland Patch Letter: Teacher Supports Jennifer Gallichant

TOLLAND, CT — To the Editor:

As a 20 year resident of Tolland and Connecticut public school teacher for over 30 years, I confidently endorse Jennifer Gallichant as candidate for Tolland's Board of Education. I have personally observed her in action for years making a positive difference in the lives of Tolland’s children and the community through her generous service.
Not only is she well known as an experienced public servant in our elementary school community when she served as a room parent volunteer, the TEPTO President, and every role in between for 9 years, but her consistent commitment, courage, and compassion she demonstrates makes being a member of the Tolland Board Of Education the natural next step. The experience she brings to this position enables her to represent many that share her vision because it focuses on both academic and social-emotional experiences for students.

She is continuously concerned with strengthening public education by putting resources in the hands of those that need it. One example of her as a relentless advocate for teachers and students to have the necessary resources, is when she changed the lives of many last year by orchestrating TEPTO’s donation of $30,000 towards Chromebooks. The pandemic brought many challenges for students, families, and staff and she took action immediately to help support and fill this 1:1 technology need. This is just one example of the many where she stepped up to support and enhance education for the Tolland school community.
Jennifer Gallichant is intelligent, sensitive, articulate, and dedicated to our children’s education in Tolland. The kindness, respect, and integrity she promotes is visible in her and also in both her sons that I have had the pleasure of teaching.
Not only her family values and strong character, but her community service experience, shows she can improve the educational experiences for the children in the Tolland Public Schools and would be an incredible asset to the Tolland Board Of Education.
