Tolland Resident Helps State Police Nab Wanted Man With Heroin Stash
He was asleep in the road, state police said.
TOLLAND, CT (June 27, 2016) – A call to troopers from an "alert citizen" resulted in the arrest of a wanted man who had nearly 100 bags of heroin on him, state police said.
On Sunday at about 3:42 p.m., troopers from the Troop C barracks were dispatched to Dockerel Road in Tolland after receiving a call from a citizen reporting a suspicious man, according to a news release. Troopers arrived on scene and found the accused sleeping in the road.
Troopers discovered that four active warrants had been issued for the man, Nicholas Menditto, 33, of 29 Higgins Way, Tolland, according to a news release. He was found to be in possession of 92 bags of heroin, state police said.

Menditto was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the Intent to sell, probation violation and being a pedestrian in a road under the influence, state police said.
"This is a perfect example of an alert citizen seeing something that didn’t seem right, and notifying the proper authorities," state police said in a statement released Monday. "We continue to encourage everyone to be aware of your surroundings and to call the police if something doesn’t seem right."
