$117.3 Million Sought For Trumbull Schools In 2022-23
The preliminary budget request carries a 4.5 percent increase over the current year's allocation.

TRUMBULL, CT — To operate Trumbull Public Schools next year, the district is seeking a budget of $117.3 million, which carries a 4.5 percent increase over the current allocation, according to Schools Superintendent Martin Semmel.
The preliminary spending proposal will be the focus of several budget meetings in upcoming weeks before it is finalized, so the request is almost bound to change.
However, Semmel outlined a request that is heavy on restoring eliminated positions in the district, and adding some new ones. It also seeks money to add space at Booth Hill and Middlebrook elementary schools.

"As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are challenged to meet the needs of all students from an academic, emotional, and social perspective," Semmel wrote in his budget presentation. "We believe our request appropriately meets those needs while respecting Trumbull’s ability to cover the costs."
The proposed 2022-23 budget is $5 million above the current allocation, and would restore an Associate to the Dean position at Trumbull High School; restore a Department Chair of Elementary Special Education position; and restore some instructional positions throughout the district, among other positions.
