TRUMBULL, CT — Two men accused of dumping a truckload of used tires near a local retail parking lot, on property bordering Old Mine Park, were arrested Friday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Brian Weir said the men were spotted around 6 p.m. unloading tires from a box truck while parked behind an unoccupied building next to a Home Depot on Monroe Turnpike.

As they left the area, police stopped the truck near Main Street, a short distance away from the Monroe town line, Weir said.

According to Weir, local business owners who had been monitoring the area called police late Friday afternoon when the truck was seen near the same location and two men, later identified as Jamel Bracy, 25, of Bronx, N.Y., and Jordan Malone, 26, of Danbury, unloaded tires and threw them down an embankment in a secluded wooded area of the parking lot.

Police have not determined the origin of these tires, Weir said.

In recent weeks, police received reports of hundreds of vehicle tires having been dumped in this wooded area but were unable to determine who had discarded them, Weir said.

According to Weir, the quantity of tires was large enough to suggest multiple truckloads had been discarded in this same area.

Bracy and Malone were both charged with littering and discharge without a permit. They were each held on a $3,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court later this month, Weir said.
