Today I was asked to give a speech and a special birthday wish in the Milford Point Beach area. A woman named Margarite had bought my book, "Slices of Life Italian-American Stories" the other day for the birthday girl, Patricia. After I signed it, she explained that it would mean a lot to them if I would stop by the party to give a speech as Patricia was opening her gift. I changed my schedule and made time for them. A room full of strangers instantly showed their warmth and sincerity. As an author, I was really touched that they asked me to give a speech and that in a simple way, I made her day special. They were also a gift to me.
