A ‘Rogue Roach in Pantry’?

Over the years I have begrudgingly been pulled into Trumbull Politics on various occasions. There is often no way to avoid this, if you want to get anything at all done in the town of Trumbull.

Over the years I have begrudgingly been pulled into Trumbull Politics on various occasions.

There is often no way to avoid this, if you want to get anything at all done in the town of Trumbull. However I have for the most part, managed to retain my stubborn ‘unaffiliated’ independence.

I have had many comments, both positive and negative aimed at me over the years simply for advocating for a self-funded Nature & Arts Center. I think the most amusing comment was when someone described me as a ‘Rogue Roach in Pantry’.

“What, exactly does that mean?,” I asked? The explanation was as amusing as the statement. It was explained that I have somehow made myself privy to inside information usually only savored by the insider ‘party-people’, allowing me the freedom and privilege to run free in the ‘pantry’. While I find that a comical and entertaining analogy, my first thought was, Trumbull politics must be of a dull palate, if I am in fact holding precious ‘fruit and cracker crumbs’ in my hand. Have I unknowingly digested these ‘morsels’ without understanding their value?

So what is the point of all these local political ‘Tsumanis’? Is there ever a legitimate tidal wave, or is it really just a vernal pool of piranha’s biting at each other's tails? Some of those involved, swear it is critical behavior to ensure the best outcomes for our community. On some levels this may be true, but other times, I can only believe it is a stand-by excuse to steal your opponents next meal.

A local community thrives best, when the community drives initiatives, not political maneuvers. This coming fall, lets vote for local ‘people’…not political ‘parties’.
