Trumbull Rotarians Building Better Future for Military Veterans
Helping to build a new life for veterans returning home.
The Trumbull Rotary Club is proud to announce its support of “Habitat for Heroes, Veterans Serving Veterans,” the first veterans build for Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, as well as the first in the entire state of Connecticut.
As the founding sponsor, helping to raise more than $50-thousand for this project, Rotarians’ will be the first to swing hammers constructing walls for the structure beginning Saturday, March 23rd at 1542 Barnum Avenue from 8:30 to 3:30.
Along with other civic and veterans’ organizations, as well as local businesses and individuals, the house will be a home for a military veteran and her family.

“Rotarians want to show how deeply they appreciate the sacrifices our military members have made to keep our country free,” said Trumbull Rotary Club president Jim Malski.
Army Staff Sergeant Juliet Taylor will be residing in the new home with her two sons, daughter and grandson. Taylor, who served more than 11 years including an 18-month tour in Iraq and two humanitarian tours in Afghanistan, is thrilled by the prospect of owning her own new home that includes an interest-free 30-year mortgage through Habitat for Humanity.

“Wherever they go, whatever they do, my children will always have a place to call home,” Taylor said.
Staff Sergeant Taylor and her family are currently living in a crowded two bedroom apartment in Bridgeport and spending too much of her income on rent alone.
“We are about half way to our goal of $150,000 to fully fund this home,” said Eileen Bakos, Manager, Volunteer Services for Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County. “We still have a long way to go, but I have faith that now that we have a family, things will come together.”
