TYA Jr. Performs "The Castaways"!

TRUMBULL YOUTH JR. WILL PERFORM A MUSICAL THIS FRIDAY!

TYA Jr. Students will perform The Castways, a play about a group of orphaned children struggling on the streets of New York City in the early 1900’s.

The Trumbull Youth Association, Junior proudly presents their production of The Castaways, a musical grounded in historical fact by Michael and Jill Gallina. The play is about a group of orphaned children, struggling on the streets of New York City in the early 1900’s. The timely story line crosses generational boundaries and focuses on the problem of homelessness, the importance of community, and the power of generosity.

Junior TYA is a group of 36 talented young performers entering grade five through eight who have been a part of a five-week theatre arts camp based at Madison Middle School. The camp is designed to encourage development of musical theatre performance skills (solo & ensemble acting, singing, and movement). This workshop has been an incredible opportunity for students to hone their skills among peers with the same passion for the performing arts.

The camp is lead by Maurya Brown of Trumbull. A graduate of the College of Saint Benedict’s vocal performance program, Brown has been a music instructor for over thirty years.  She teaches music and theater in her home studio and at private schools in Trumbull, Fairfield, and Norwalk.
