Herbst to Trumbull Residents: Oppose Malloy Teacher Pension Plan
Trumbull could be on the hook for $5.6 million more per year if the proposal is passed.

TRUMBULL, CT — First Selectman Tim Herbst urged Trumbull residents to contact legislative leadership at the state level and urge members to oppose Gov. Dannel Malloy's proposal to transfer one-third of teacher pension costs to local municipalities.
“Under Governor Malloy’s proposal, Trumbull will be responsible for an additional $5.6 million dollars of cost associated with the Governor’s proposal,” Herbst said. “This will cause a very dramatic property tax increase in Trumbull, hurting our seniors on fixed incomes and those that are living paycheck to paycheck as they continue to deal with the impact of a state economy that lags behind the rest of the nation.”
Herbst noted that nearby Fairfield First Selectman Michael Tetreau, a Democrat also opposes the proposal.(To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities click here.)
