Hundreds Gather On Trumbull Green To Call For Police Reform
Hundreds gathered on a hot afternoon to call for an end to racial discrimination.

TRUMBULL, CT — Several hundred people gathered at the Town Hall Green Saturday to call for an end to racial discrimination and police reform after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Speakers shared personal stories about their interactions with police, according to the Trumbull Times. Fred McKinney, the first black person to receive a PhD in economics from Yale University recalled how he had a shotgun pointed at his head after he was in a car that was stopped by police in Los Angeles. It was his first day at UCLA.
Five attendees required medical attention due to overheating, said Lt. Brian Weir, police spokesman. Trumbull Police officers and EMS offered assistance. Two of the attendees required more medical attention and were taken to an area hospital for further treatment.
