Letter to the Editor: Vote for Trumbull Republicans for Fiscal Responsibility

Republican Town Committee Chairman Jack Testani urges voters to elect Republicans to the House of Representatives and State Senate.

To the Editor

The election on November 8 and control of both the House of Representatives and State Senate is of critical importance to the future of Trumbull after the dismal failures of Governor Malloy. Elaine Hammers is the Republican candidate for State Senate and current chairman of the Trumbull Board of Finance. Elaine helped to pass a Town budget that resulted in the first decrease in the mill rate for many years. As State Senator, Elaine will insure education in Trumbull remains a priority and will work to devise a more equitable cost sharing formula as well as help to balance the State budget as she did for the Town of Trumbull.

Ben McGorty, David Rutigliano and Laura Devlin are the Republican incumbents from the 122nd, 123rd and 134th districts respectively and deserve to be reelected. All havel worked tirelessly on behalf of Trumbull residents to champion lower taxes, responsible spending and cost controls. The State of Connecticut has been dominated by Democrat control that has resulted in a total breakdown of sensible government and even mishandling of important State agencies as evidenced by the recent debacle at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

I strongly encourage all Trumbull voters to vote for Elaine Hammers for State Senate, Ben McGorty, David Rutigliano and Laura Devlin for State Representative. They all will help Connecticut toward the path of fiscal responsibility. Town of Trumbull elected Republicans will continue to govern with sound economic development improvements which have led to an increase in the grand list and by extension a decrease in the burden to Trumbull taxpayers.
