The Parish of Saint Catherine of Siena Trumbull celebrates The Solemnity of Corpus Christi with a Festive Procession
It is an ancient tradition which helps to publicly manifest our belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
The Parish of Saint Catherine of Siena, Trumbull CT, held a very special celebration of The Solemnity of Corpus Christi, also referred to as The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, on Sunday, June 18, 2017. The 12:00 noon Mass was immediately followed by a Corpus Christi Procession out of the Church, around the church’s beautiful parish grounds. The Procession concluded in the Church with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
“We live in such a visual culture,” said Father Joseph Marcello, Pastor. “So a procession, with its candles, incense, and servers—with Our Lord in the monstrance, and so many of our parishioners and friends of all ages taking part —this helps to bring home to all of us that Christ in the Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith.”
Our Parish Choir, under the direction of Dr. William H. Atwood, sang for Mass, which was truly one of the most beautiful Masses this year. A Corpus Christi procession is an ancient tradition which, according to Father Marcello helps “to publicly manifest our belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.”
