Church leaders highlighted teachers' spiritual role, announced new early learning centers, and set a unifying theme of keeping their "eyes fixed on Jesus" in classrooms.
   

5. 'Insane.' Two men connected to power tool theft ring arrested following police standoff in Trumbull hotel (news12.com) — A tense hourlong standoff at the Trumbull Marriott Shelton ended with two men and a woman arrested, including a Trumbull resident accused of ties to a multistate power tool theft ring. Parts of the hotel were evacuated as heavily armed officers responded, and local police say the investigation is ongoing with more arrests expected.
