Settlement Reached In Lost Trumbull Special Needs Student Case
The Town of Trumbull reached a settlement with the woman's family.

TRUMBULL, CT — The Town of Trumbull agreed to pay a settlement after a woman with down syndrome was left alone for hours during a school field trip.
The settlement terms weren't disclosed, according to the Connecticut Post. The family previously offered to settle the lawsuit for $125,000.
Megan Gereda was supposed to go on a field trip with members of ELITE (Educating Learners in Transitional Environments) when she was left alone and unsupervised in bathroom facilities, according to the lawsuit.

Staff didn't realize she was missing until they arrived at a Trumbull park. They drove back to the Helen Plumb building where she was left, but couldn't find her.
Gereda wandered about 1.5 miles from the building and was located hours later on Reservoir Avenue by police, according to the lawsuit.
