Tree Work To Partially Close Rails To Trails
Heads up if you are looking to take a hike soon in Trumbull.
From The City of Trumbull:Those who use the Rails to Trails may have noticed that numerous trees have been marked along the Tait Road to Whitney Avenue corridor that crosses through the Pequonnock River Valley Park.
These trees have been identified as either having failed for a variety of reasons or being in a serious state of decline, and accordingly have been marked for safety pruning or complete removal where necessary. Although this parkland is owned jointly by the Town and the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), DEEP has the care, custody and control of managing all of the trees in this parcel.
Town officials, including the Tree Warden and the Superintendent of Parks, agree that, in the interest of public safety, this work is warranted. Accordingly, DEEP will be conducting the pruning and removal work within the coming weeks, possibly beginning as soon as next week.
Due to the hazardous nature of the work, the portion of Rails to Trails between Tait Road and Whitney Avenue will be closed to the public while the work is being performed. Please heed all trail closure signs and do not attempt to enter the trail when it is marked closed. The Town’s first and foremost priority is the safety of all who live here or use our public facilities.
