Trumbull Considers Future Of Its Town Pools
Some of the town's pools are near the end of their usable life.
TRUMBULL, CT — The town is considering the future of its aquatic offers as some of its pools reach the tailend of their usable life.
The pools at Beach Memorial Park, Tashua Recreation and Hillcrest Middle School are all over 40-years-old. Hillcrest is in need of a substantial overhaul and renovations at the Hillcrest pool could get expensive, according to an update from the Aquatics Facilities Building Committee to the Town Council.
The committee is now looking at the possibility of an aquatic center that could serve people of all ages in the community, competitive swimmers and high school students, according to meeting minutes

The town still owns plans for a six-lane pool that would be in a standalone facility at the high school. Two of the top areas the committee is researching for a new pool are at the high school and the Tashua Recreation Center. Tashua would have to be connected to the sewer system and the center isn’t as central to town as the high school.
Committee members will continue with site visits and may do a community survey before reporting back to the Town Council.
