TRUMBULL, CT — The Trumbull Health Department will hold a poster contest for students in kindergarten through fifth grade to recognize the commitment of school nurses.

According to the town website, students are asked to make a poster highlighting what their school nurses do for them. Posters will be displayed in the school hallways the first week of school.

All participants will receive a participation certificate. Contest winners will be announced over the PA system and receive a gift card to Plasko's Farm Creamery and Café in Trumbull, town officials said.

"School nurses are essential to the health of our communities," Luci Bango, the Trumbull Health Department's director of health, said in a release on the town website. "The Trumbull Health Department wants to acknowledge the important role that they play and their commitment to our community. All students in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate."

  • Use 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.
  • Make a poster that highlights what your school nurse does for you.
  • Write your name, age and name of school on the back of the poster.
  • Submit to the Trumbull Health Department (335 White Plains Road), Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., by Aug. 19.
