Snow Plow Driver Rescues 4 Adults, 3 Dogs From Trumbull House Fire: FD
Fire officials said a highway worker and firefighter who was plowing roads in town rescued four adults and three dogs from a house fire.
TRUMBULL, CT — A Trumbull highway worker and firefighter is credited with saving the lives of four adults and three dogs from a house fire in town over the weekend, according to fire officials.
In a news release posted to Facebook, Long Hill Volunteer Fire Company Chief Greg Sanfanandre said the structure fire broke out Sunday around 4 a.m. at a home on Haviland Drive.
Shaun Bogen, a town highway worker and a firefighter with the company, was plowing roads in the area at that time when he noticed a fire in the home's garage, Sanfanandre said.

Bogen quickly alerted his base, then called 911. He also woke up the four adults and three dogs sleeping inside the home and made sure they all got outside safely before crews arrived, according to Sanfanandre.
A total of 26 firefighters responded to the home and found heavy fire in the garage that extended into the house. Using three hose lines, crews brought the blaze under control in less than an hour, Sanfanandre said.

Trumbull police and EMS provided assistance to firefighters, and the Monroe and Shelton fire departments provided mutual aid.
The Trumbull fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the blaze, Sanfanandre said.
In a statement posted to Facebook, First Selectman Vicki Tesoro thanked Bogen "for his heroic and selfless actions" on Sunday.
"We are lucky we have first responders of this caliber in our community. People who will risk their own lives to save others," Tesoro said on Facebook. "The term hero is often overused but in this case Shaun is a true hero...on behalf of the entire town of Trumbull, I want to thank Shaun and all of those who responded to this emergency. Thanks also to all of our first responders, including our [Department of Public Works] employees, who keep us safe everyday."
