Trumbull Man Faked Vehicle Theft: PD

The vehicle was found not long after he reported it stolen, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Trumbull man was arrested after he falsely reported his vehicle being stolen, according to police.

Monroe Police responded to a reported evading accident on Route 25 near the plaza where Buffalo Bill's is located on March 10. They located a license plate that fell off the offending vehicle.

Later on Charles Bryan, 43, reported his vehicle stolen and said he rarely drove it. It was found on March 11 in the commuter lot near Route 111 and Route 25 with heavy damage. Inside police found multiple recent receipts including a March 10 one for Buffalo Bill's, police said.

A credit card was used shortly before the time of the crash, police said.

Bryan turned himself in April 23 to Trumbull Police and was charged with filing a false report, interfering with police and second-degree false incident report. Bond was set at $25,000.
