TRUMBULL, CT - From Trumbull Police Department: The Trumbull Police Department is welcoming the addition of four new police recruits to the town’s police force whom were sworn in on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. The recruits are:

  • Helder Dos Santos, age 35 of Bridgeport, CT
  • Eimar Pinzon, age 22 of Monroe, CT
  • Samantha Teri, age 26 of Northport, NY
  • Sara Ball, age 22 of Shelton, CT

These four police recruits will begin their training at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden
on April 5th where they will participate in classroom instruction, practical skills and physical
fitness conditioning. After graduating from the Police Academy, they are required to complete a
minimum of 400 hours of Field Training to complete their certifications. During the Field
Training phase the recruits will ride with training officers who will instruct them on department
policies, rules and procedures, while exposing them to actual policing by responding to calls for
service.

After a lengthy testing process, the selection, background investigations, and training process
takes more than eighteen (18) months for the recruits to start working on the road. These new
recruits add to the total amount of officers, but the department still falls short of its authorized
strength of eighty-one (81) officers, due to the lengthy process involved with hiring new
officers, and recent retirement of several officers.
